Donkey Kong Country combines pre-rendered 3D silicon sprites, momentum-driven barrel rolls, and animal buddies across Donkey and Diddy Kong’s quest.
Rareware’s landmark 16-bit platformer pairs Donkey Kong’s heavy ground pounds with Diddy Kong’s agile mobility. Tag-teaming between both apes provides a backup hit point and unique traversal physics, while animal companions like Rambi the Rhino and Expresso the Ostrich bust open hidden secret bonus rooms.
Rolling off a ledge with Diddy Kong preserves airborne velocity and allows you to initiate a jump mid-air. Use this extended roll-jump mechanic to clear wide abysses and reach hidden K-O-N-G letters.
This is the original Super Nintendo / Super Famicom cartridge edition from 1994. Later Game Boy Advance conversions feature brighter color palettes and altered sound mixes.
