Save or load game progress

Launch the game to check save-state support.

Save progress keeps one emulator snapshot for this game on this browser. Saving again replaces that snapshot. Download a backup before clearing site data or changing devices. No account or cloud sync is provided.

Import an OLDGAMES backup on this same game page, then launch and choose Resume saved game. Older .state files use the player’s Load State menu.

Favorites bookmark this page; they do not save progress.

  1. After launching, reveal the player toolbar by moving the pointer over the game screen or tapping its menu button.
  2. Choose the save-state download option when available and keep the file.
  3. To restore it, launch the same game and choose the load-state option. Check the restored progress before replacing an older backup.

In-game saves and emulator states are different. Availability varies by game and player. Browser storage can be cleared; a downloaded backup is not cloud sync.

About Pokémon Blue Version

Pokémon Blue Version — Game Boy edition
Pokémon Blue Version · Game Boy · 1998

Pokémon Blue Version complements Red with exclusive wild encounters, tactical turn-based battle mechanics, and the search for all 151 monsters across Kanto.

Turn priority and single-special stat mechanics

Pokémon Blue features the same core journey as Red: setting out from Pallet Town with Professor Oak’s starter (Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle) and battling through eight gym leaders and the Elite Four. Speed stats determine turn priority and critical hit calculation in Generation I, while the special stat handles both magical damage and defense simultaneously. Equipping your party with complementary elemental moves like Surf, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt counters the varied typings of rival trainers.

Blue-exclusive species and Psychic-type dominance

Version-exclusive encounters shape your early team composition. Blue offers wild Meowth, Sandshrew, Vulpix, and Magmar, but lacks Red’s Growlithe, Mankey, and Ekans. Catching an Abra on Route 24 or trading for Jynx (Lola) in Cerulean City provides invaluable Psychic-type coverage, which completely dominates Generation I due to a lack of viable Bug and Ghost counterattacks.

The North American Blue release

This is the Game Boy Blue Version. It was localized from the Japanese Pocket Monsters Blue engine, featuring revised sprite artwork over the Japanese Red and Green originals. To complete your Pokédex, trade with Pokémon Red Version for the remaining exclusive species.
