Pokémon Silver expands the monster-battling journey into the Johto region with real-time day/night cycles, breeding mechanics, and 100 new species.
Starting from New Bark Town with Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile, players challenge eight Johto Gym Leaders while confronting the revived Team Rocket. The internal real-time clock governs wild monster availability (Hoot-Hoot and Gastly appear only at night) and unlocks day-specific events like the National Park Bug-Catching Contest on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Defeating the Johto Elite Four unlocks the entire original Kanto region with 8 additional gym badges and a climatic duel against Red at Mt. Silver.
Take advantage of Pokémon breeding at the Day-Care on Route 34. Pairing compatible monsters passes down egg moves and individual values. Keep a Pokémon with the Sleep Powder or Hypnosis status move on hand for capturing wandering legendary beasts Raikou and Entei.
This is the classic Game Boy Color Silver Version featuring the legendary psychic-flying guardian Lugia.
